This week is pretty special in my profession. It my opportunity to celebrate my colleagues and friends who are school social workers. The first week in March every year is School Social Worker Appreciation Week. I don’t want the attention to be placed on me, but I do want others to get the recognition they deserve. I won’t compare school social work to other positions, as every career has its challenges and would be unfair to say one is more difficult than another.

I just sent a note to ours. We all need to stop and thank those who make our kids feel safe and who help keep us in check as well. So much goes on in the background and I so appreciate the role of our Social Worker. We are blessed.

I mean, maybe a little attention on me:) Jk. You are all so valuable to schools, and especially to these kids. I can't count how many kids ask me on a weekly basis if they can go see you or go have lunch with you. The impact you make is pretty obvious. We will have to maybe bring a DD or McD's coke as a token of our appreciation. Lets just see if I can get there in time.

I am so grateful for you, your knowledge and the way you make a difficult situation feel much easier. You are an asset to our school and community.
